RANVIJAY
"Sir, here is the file. It contains every student's detailed information," the officer passed the file with a smile. I just wanted to go through the details of Kashish—the continuous attacks on her made me curious to check on her past.
"Kashish Dandekar, 21 years old, 4th-year student, from Mumbai, father's occupation - RAW officer - Mr. Vijaykant Dandekar." I slammed the file on the table. I had heard this name before. I pushed my memory so hard. Bingo!! I know her father. We did a mission together two years ago. Is she his daughter?
We've met a couple of times since childhood; we even talked, but it was always related to our work. If I remember correctly, I saw him at my grandfather's retirement ceremony, who was a brigadier. I was having my tea when an officer stepped inside my camp and said, "Jai Hind, sir."
"Sir, Cadet Kashish again missed her roll call." I rubbed a hand over my face in annoyance. This is the fifth time she has missed her roll call at night. I don't know why she can't just cage herself in the camp.
"Where is she? Call her," I growled, putting my tea cup down. "She is not inside the camp, sir." His words made me turn my gaze toward him.
She is not inside the camp. I immediately stepped outside the camp. Today I will surely punish her- I think I need to be strict with her, no matter how much I love her. I last witnessed her outside the camp. She was playing with the rabbit. I reached the entrance of the camp.
"Officer, where is Miss Dandekar?" I asked. "Sir, I haven't seen her," he said, making me sigh in anger. "How careless are you, officer?" I snapped at him, and he dropped his head. "You can't keep an eye on the people?" My voice was filled with wrath. "Sorry, sir! I had my eyes on her the whole time, except for the five minutes when I went to the washroom." Where could she have gone?
I was walking for 10 minutes while searching for her all around, but I didn't find her. My heart is getting restless. Is she okay? The area is dark, and at night, there are many snatchers roaming around. Kashish, Raaje, where are you? My eyes fell to the ground. "What is that?"
I found her earring shattered on the ground. I picked it up. It belonged to her. "Kashish... Kashish," I screamed her name repeatedly. I was scared as hell when I didn't hear her voice in return.
"She is so beautiful. I want to touch her," I heard the goon's voice. I paused my steps, his closeness boiling my blood. Untold rage surged through my body, and I clenched my fists until my knuckles turned white and the veins started popping up on my arms.
♡
"She is mine," I shouted angrily, and he paused his hand, which was about to touch her face. They turned their heads toward me. "Only I have the right to touch her." I took big steps toward them and abruptly grabbed his hand, the one that was about to touch Kashish—my Kashish.
"How dare you touch her?" I snapped, breaking his wrist bone and he let out a painful scream. Anger rushed through my body. How dare they? No one has the right to touch her except me. I slapped him hard, making him fell to the ground.
The other one attacked me with a knife, but my grip on his wrist made him drop the knife. I wrapped my arm around his neck, tightening my hold until his breath was choked. "I'm going to kill you, motherfucker," I growled through gritted teeth.
I grabbed his leather belt. It seemed like he had already manifested his fate. That's why he wore a leather belt. I wrapped it around my grip and began beating them with it. "Stop there," my words halted the lady's steps.
"I don't raise my hand on women, because the army has gentlemen, but that doesn't mean you aren't guilty," I growled, my tone sharp enough to make her tremble in fear.
I beat them until their bodies were broken. Grabbing his collar, I snarled, "Don't you dare touch my Kashish or any girl again—or I will kill you." He nodded frantically.
I took out my phone and called the local police. "Major Ranvijay here. Please come quickly," I said and hung up the call. I turned my gaze to her who was shattered on the ground. "Raaje!" I walked toward her.
I picked up her waist, "Kashish, wake up!!", I held her head while my hands caressed her face. "Raaje, open your eyes- Look, I'm here, Open your eyes, bacche", I leaned her face against my chest. My angry veins were popping up on my hands and neck to see her in this condition. Anxiety started flowing through my entire body.
My heart was beating like crazy. My own wounds never bothered me, but when it came to her, I felt pain in every corner of my heart. "Kashish, wake up, Raaje! I can't see you like this," I murmured against her forehead. I wanted to kill the lady who hit her, but I couldn't. Pain hit my eyes.
I caressed her wound gently and then looked at the lady who had hurt her. My furious, red eyes made her lower her head. "Sorry, sir," she stammered, while my hands gently rested around Kashish's waist. I pulled my handkerchief from my pocket and wrapped it around her head.
I found a scratch mark while caressing her neck. It looked like they had snatched something from her. "What did you steal from her?" I demanded, my thumb still gently caressing the scratch on her neck.
"Her chain," he stammered. I extended my hand. "Give it to me," and he placed the chain in my hand without wasting a second. Ten minutes later, the cops arrived at the scene. "Jai Hind, sir," the police officer greeted me, and I nodded.
"Arrest them, and I will visit the police station tomorrow for the formalities." I said, my eyes still fixed on Kashish, my hand continued to caress her face. I was supposed to go with the cops right away, but I couldn't leave her alone. First, I needed to ensure that she was absolutely fine.
It was 1 a.m. The clouds were roaring loudly, and it seemed like the rain could start at any moment. My camp was still 1 km away, and I couldn't risk her life while stand under the tree. She was wearing a thin, layered white anarkali suit, and she might feel embarrassed if she got wet in the rain. I took out my jacket immediately and made her wear it.
I picked her up in my arms, holding her waist tightly. Her head was swaying in the air, but somehow I managed to tug her head on my shoulder, and my lips automatically brushed against her forehead. I couldn't resist her closeness. Fuck!! The rain started. It was the most annoying moment for me to get wet in this salty water.
♡
I reached the camp and immediately went to the medicube. "Captain, please check her, she's injured," my tense voice made him turn his gaze. He was organizing his medicine in the racks. He took quick steps toward us. I gently placed her on the bed.
He took out my handkerchief and examined her wound. "There is no serious injury on her head, right captain", I nervously asked. Please say, Captain, that she is okay, as I can't see her like this. My eyes fell on her fingers, which gripped my t-shirt corner.
"Her cut is deep, looks like someone hit her head with something sharp," he said, cleaning her wound to stitch it. I don't know why my anger boiled up. How dare they hit my jaan? I shouldn't have let them go. I was supposed to kill them.
Captain started stitching her wound, and she began grunting in pain. Her grip tightened on my t-shirt until her knuckles turned white. "Captain, please do it gently. She's in pain," I sat beside her and caressing her hair. Tears filled my eyes.
Is that really you, Ranvijay? I mean, you never dropped a single tear on anyone's agony. you don't give a damn to anyone torment, but look at her. You are crying like a kid after seeing her in pain.
I closed my eyes, unable to bear her painful sobs. "Sir, it's done," Captain Pranav said, and I opened my eyes. She was sleeping silently. I wiped my eyes secretly, not wanting to shed my tears in front of Captain Pranav. "Please take care of her, I'm leaving now." I stood up and turned, but I paused mid-step.
She tightly gripped my index finger. Her gesture made me happy and sad at the same time. Did she really want me to stay with her? But why? She hates me. Ranvijay, stop thinking about her. Didn't you promise yourself that you would stay away from her? My inner voice tried to stop me.
I know I made a promise, but please let me stay with her, at least for the night. I begged you she needs me, and I can't leave her like this. You can ignore me, but do remember this closeness and craving will hurt you in the future.

I ignored my inner voice like air and took steps to her bed. "Captain," I said and he replied immediately, "Yes, sir". I caressed her forehead, "I will stay along with her, please leave us alone." He nodded and left. I sat near her bed, my eyes still staring at her. "Officer!" I called the soldier who was standing outside the camp.
"Please bring me t-shirt from my camp and check her camp. Is any girl still awake? If yes, ask her to bring dry clothes immediately." He disappeared after saying, "Yes, sir." She had dried tears on her cheeks. I wiped her tears, leaning forward. "I'm here, don't be scared," I murmured against her earlobe and kissed her forehead.
"Sir, here is your t-shirt," He said. I took out my wet t-shirt and threw it on the corner chair. "Sir, Nisha is outside," he said while I put on my dry t-shirt and stepped outside. She was standing there. "Sir, did you call me?" she asked nervously, and I nodded.
"She is inside, and her clothes are wet. Please change her clothes," I asked without even glancing at her, and she nodded. "Listen," she stopped. "Be gentle with her; she is injured," I warned, and she stepped inside.
I took out my cigarette and started smoking. After 10 minutes, she stepped outside. "Sir, done," she said, and I waved for her to go to her camp. "Officer," my words made him pay attention. "Do not let anyone enter the medicube until my next order," I ordered and went inside the camp after hearing, "Yes, sir."
Silly girl, forgot to pull her blanket up. I took five steps until I reached her bed. I slid her blanket up and sat beside her. I reached my hand out and touched her wound with my fingers. "I'm sorry, perhaps I was late—if I had been on time, they wouldn't have hurt you," my words were full of regret.
I didn't want to blink my eyes the whole night, not even for a second. I didn't need to push myself hard to do this, as her face had that allure that could poison me. "Wake up, because I don't want to get bored—after all, you are the one who can fight with me," I smirked, caressing her cheek with my thumb.
"You are too mischievous and cunning as well," I said, gripping her fingers into a fist. "I mean, I told you to stay away from me, and you ended up hurting yourself." Is she aware that I can't stay away from her, especially when I see her in pain? She is dragging out the mysterious Ranvijay from me, the one who acts insanely only for Kashish.
I want to hug her tightly, as I need to synchronize my heartbeats with hers. My restlessness needs to calm down. I caressed my cheek with her palm. Don't do it, Ranvijay—you'll start craving her more. I curled my lips.
Did I mention that I couldn't resist myself when she is close to me? I kissed her hand insanely. I did it twice until I went mad for her.
♡
The sun shone outside while my eyes were still pinned to her face. She started cuddling herself in my jacket. I think she is okay. She opened her eyes slowly. "Sir, what are you doing here?" she asked in a low breath.
"Are you okay, Raaje? Aren't you in pain?" I caressed her hair. "No, I'm okay—Ahhh, my head, it's paining like hell," she sat on the bed. "Don't worry, it will heal soon." She looked at me suspiciously. "Why are you staring at me?" she asked nervously.
"Because I want to scold you! What the hell were you doing in the forest last night? Do you know what would have happened if I hadn't reached on time?" Anger dripped from my words. "Do you have any problem following the rules?" I yelled, and she dropped her head.
"S-sir, I was just trying to help the lady, that's why I stepped out of the camp," her voice trembled. "Why did you need to go yourself? You could have called someone. You know how those people were. If I hadn't come at the right time, they would have taken you away." And that thought scared me.
"I was scared—how would I have lived if something had happened to you?" I said, her amazed gaze fixed on me. What are you saying, Ranvijay? Shut your fucking mouth, you're about to confess to her.
"Sorry, sir—I won't do that again," she apologized. Her innocence made my anger fade. "Okay, take a rest," I stood up and turned on my heels. "Sir, your jacket," I was halfway out of the camp when her voice came from behind.
"Keep it and return it later after washing," with that I walked out. She has my second jacket as well. I need to apply for the next one.
♡
It was 1:30 at night, and I sat on the rock outside the camp. I didn't have any signs of sleep. I was thinking about my engagement, which would happen in the next 15 days. It was cold outside, and I was having rum.
"What are you doing, angry man?" Arjun chuckled and sat beside me. "I was enjoying my rum alone until you came," I sarcastically said, and he giggled. "How's your eye?" he asked.
Well, she tried so hard to blind me, but still, I managed to see her beauty. My eyes were swollen, and they had been bloodshot for days. "Yeah, I'm good," I said, and he giggled again. His unexpected giggles always gave me bad vibes. 'What's wrong with you?' I asked in a cold tone.
"This is the second time you've injured the same part of your body because of her." he said, making me annoyed. "But seriously, she didn't hit you intentionally that day—I was there, and I know her," He defended her. Arjun behaves like a typical big brother, covering for his little sister's mess.
"Is she giving you bribe to defend her every time?" I snarled, but he was checking his popped-up message. "What? Bribe and me? No way," he denied instantly. "She is like a little sister to me. I mean, there are other students as well, but I have a special bond with her."
"Well, you also have a connection with her, don't you?" He raised his eyebrow. Why did he say that? "She is not connected to me," I lied, and my eyes met the flowing river. The truth is, she is in my heart, in my soul. Stop admitting it Ranvijay, you have to stay away from her.
"Is that so, Major Ranvijay?" I started flickering my eyes. "I thought she is important to you. I mean, she stepped inside your camp at 12 p.m. and stepped out at 4 a.m. after taking care of you the whole night." I swallowed hard. I turned my eyes to him, and he was smiling.
She opened her mouth even after I warned her. She's checking my nerves. "Ranvijay, could you please explain?" he demanded. "Did she tell you—ahhh, she is so annoying?" I rasped, and he let out a laugh. "She didn't tell me. I'm the witness of that special night," he winked.
Arjun witnessed her exit from my camp. What if anyone else had seen it? How much embarrassment do I still have to face? I closed my eyes in irritation. "Don't worry, no one has seen Kashish except me!" he confirmed. That's a relief. He is still laughing at me.
"Stop laughing, it's nothing like that—Even I found out about this after waking up in the morning," I growled. But suddenly, that night's conversation reminded me of the honey taste. I sucked my lips in the blink of an eye. "Oh, really? Is that so, Major?" he asked, tapping my shoulder. "Yes!!"
"If yes, then why did you spend the whole night in the medicube with her when she was injured a week ago?" he asked. I didn't have any answers to his question. "Do you love Kashish?" he asked directly, and I ended up feeling restless.
How can I say that I love her or not, when I'm still in a dilemma? But it doesn't matter whether I love her or not, because I can't have her in my life. She has someone else in her life. She has her mate. She will never love me.
"I don't love her, and don't ask me such a question again," I was offended. The reason wasn't his question—I was offended because it kept reminding me that I couldn't have her. The fateful rejection shattered my heart into pieces again and again.
"Okay, well, tomorrow will be the last night for every student, and the day after, they will head to Bangalore," Arjun said. The news made me sad. "How quickly the month ended," Arjun continued. "I have lots of work, so I'm going to sleep. Good night," he said, and left.
(Play O Saajna by Akhil Sachdeva)
Is she going to be away from me forever? Why did the month end so early? I gulped down the rum shots back-to-back. The homegoing news made me disheartened. The moment I spent with her flashed in front of my eyes.
The kiss, her solace, her talks, her blue eyes!!

TAMRAZ
"Boss, Anderson stepped back, and he won't attack that blue-eyed girl again." Pasha said while I was kissing my girl. Why does he always bring me good news when I'm having sex? "Darling pardon me!!" I said. "Of course, Anderson could never go against me," I got down from my bed.
"So, what about that girl? We have our eyes on her." Pasha asked. I sipped out my whisky. "Just keep your watch on her," I ordered. "But aren't we going to drag her with us?"
"Nope!"
"She is surrounded by the Indian army, and I can't risk my whole plan." I said, rolling my eyes at Pasha. "If the Indian army gets any idea that I'm after her, they will involve themselves, and that will end up with mess, and I don't want that."
"But what about your—" I cut him off. "Pasha, I don't want to involve the army. So just watch on her, and what about her dad? When will I grip his neck?" I raised my tone.
"Soon, we will get him." Pasha said while I gulped my whole whisky in one shot.
I will soon tear off her father's bones and make him suffer until death. How dare he? He spoiled my precious plan to destroy the country. He'll have to pay for that, as well as his daughter, soon. I smirked, thinking about her.
I will compensate for my loss by hurting every breath of hers! Enjoy your life, sweetheart, soon I will spoil your enjoyment.
